I began my post graduate training at Seth G.S Medical College and KEM hospital, an 1,800 bedded super-speciality hospital affiliated to the University of Mumbai, India. The institute, ranked among the top ten medical schools in India, is a tertiary apex care teaching hospital with patients coming from all over the country for treatment.
During the first year of my training I managed antenatal patients and patients in labour and routine gynaecological patients under supervision. By the second year I was assigned independent management of patients and performed major gynaecological surgeries and caesarean sections. During my training I have performed all the major gynaecological surgeries including conservative surgeries for prolapse, abdominal hysterectomies and especially non-descent vaginal hysterectomies. As a post MD registrar I was assigned independent management of all high risk obstetric and training of junior residents. I have also conducted various teaching programs for undergraduate students.

Clinical research fellowship in Gynecological Endoscopic Surgery: December 2002 to 30th November 2003 under the supervision of Dr.Rakesh Sinha MD(Clinical Fellowship in Endoscopic Surgery from the Royal Free Hospital,London,UK)
This is a 32 bedded free standing gynecological endoscopy center and takes pride in being a leading center in this field in India performing on an average 400 advanced gynecological laparoscopic surgeries every year with state of the art equipments. It has been featured in the Guinness and Limca Book of Records for the removal of the largest fibroid (3.2kg) to date by laparoscopic myomectomy.
My duties at the center involved assisting in all the minor and major laparoscopic procedures that included myomectomies hysterectomies, metroplasties, adhesiolysis, surgeries for endometriosis, TCRE and performing basic hystero-laparoscopies and pelvi-trainer sessions.
This institute regularly conducts laparoscopic training workshops in affiliation with the pharmaceutical major Johnson &Johnson, which is attended by gynecologists from all over India. During these workshops my duties as a junior faculty member involved taking lectures for the delegates and training them on the pelvitrainer sessions and animate surgeries. This has provided me with an excellent opportunity to improve my own skills in laparoscopic surgery and also to interact with a wide section of gynecologists.
Clinical Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery: May 2004 to November 2004 at the K.K. Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore.
KK hospital is a speciality hospital for women and children in Singapore drawing patients from the majority of the population in Singapore and surrounding countries. It is equipped with all the latest advances in minimally invasive surgery as well reproductive medicine.
As a clinical fellow I was involved in all major and minor minimally invasive surgeries.I have performed level 2 surgeries independently and assisted level 3 & 4 laparoscopic surgeries.
During my tenure I was involved with study on medical management of ectopic surgery, with formulating protocol, collecting of data, and analysis of results.
Clinical Research Fellow at the St George Hospital, Kogarah and Sydney Women’s Endosurgery Centre, Australia.
This fellowship is recognized by the Royal Australia and New Zealand college of Obstetrics and Gynecology for specialist training in Gynecological laparoscopy and is much sought after at an international level. (www.swec.com.au).
My training involves active assistance and individual operating on advanced laparoscopic procedures like laparoscopic pelvic floor repair and complex endometriosis surgery. I am also actively involved with teaching as we regularly conduct International Advanced laparoscopy courses and have conducted trainee workshops for registrars all over Australia. I am also involved in two research projects at the center. Period of training: from 16th August, 2005 to date.

I am competent in operating with video-laparoscopy. I have learned laparoscopic endosuturing as well extracorporeal suturing, with competency in endosuturing.
I have trained in ultrasound and have performed obstetric ultrasounds as well as transvaginal ultrasounds for ovulation studies.
I have performed IUI’s and managed patients on ovulation induction with clomiphene and gonadotrophins.
I have been involved in a lot of teaching of laparoscopy in Australia and would like to continue the same by conducting trainee workshops for Indian doctors with the participation of my colleagues in Australia to further the techinique of laparosocpy as applied to Gynaecology. In future I would like to train myself in Oncological surgery in laparoscopy.
